STRONG BC REPRESENTATION IN NDP SHADOW CABINET

“British Columbians elected a strong team of New Democrats to Ottawa. We’ll continue to punch above our weight to hold the Liberal government to account, said NDP House Leader Peter Julian. “With the resettlement of 25,000 refugees, the negotiation of new health accords and the Paris climate talks, the BC team of NDP MPs will be front and centre pushing as the progressive opposition.

Don Davies (Vancouver—Kingsway) will serve as the health critic and fight for better access to healthcare across the country. Immigration critic Jenny Kwan (Vancouver—East) will ensure the government delivers on its commitment to resettle 25,000 Syrian refugees by the end of the year.

As environment critic, Nathan Cullen (Skeena Bulkley Valley) will advocate for real targets to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Cullen will also serve as the democratic reform critic with the aim of fixing Canada’s unfair electoral system.

“Our shadow cabinet is ready to get results for Canadians and ensure that the new government fulfills its electoral promises, added Julian. “This is an experienced and strong NDP team that’s committed to serve Canadians with integrity.
