OTTAWA – New Democrats are saying that the Speech from the Throne can’t hide the scandals that have recently plagued the Conservatives and their record on failing consumers.
“It will take a lot more than copying a few of the NDP’s policies on consumer protection to make Canadians forget about the scandal in the Senate,� said NDP Caucus Chair Peter Julian.
Despite expectations for a “consumer-friendly� Speech from the Throne, the Conservatives failed to adequately address many of the challenges British Columbians face.
“Whether it is blocking the NDP’s Air Passenger Bill of Rights or their inaction on credit cards, Conservatives just can’t be trusted when it comes to consumer issues,� added Julian. “Under the leadership of Tom Mulcair, New Democrats will address problems like cell phone charges, excessive bank fees and air passenger rights.�
While the tired Conservatives are trying to hide from their own scandals, New Democrats are working to make life more affordable.

While a former Supreme Court Justice is a credible appointment to conduct the review into Hockey Canada, this won’t be the first time the organization undergoes this process.

“Canadians are horrified by the incidents of sexual assault and by what they’re hearing from Hockey Canada. They are left with many questions about how this toxic culture is allowed to persist in our sports organizations and what the government is actually doing to ensure this doesn’t happen again.
