Starting in June, individuals with a valid Disability Tax Credit certificate and children under the age of 18 can apply for the CDCP online or by phone.
Since the launch of the Canada Dental Care Plan (CDCP), over 2 million seniors have already signed up for the CDCP program. In the past four weeks, over 100,000 seniors have already received treatment from their dentists or oral health providers. Currently, over 10,000 oral health providers have enrolled to participate in the CDCP program.
Seniors aged 65 and above who missed their initial application dates can still apply online or by phone.
Online: https://www.canada.ca/en/services/benefits/dental/dental-care-plan/apply.html
By Phone: 1-833-537-4342 (8:30 am to 4:30 pm local time, Monday to Friday)
If you have registered for the CDCP and received your welcome package from Sun Life, you should have been notified of the date you can begin seeing a dentist or oral health provider. If you registered over the phone but haven't received your welcome package, please contact the CDCP Call Center directly at 1-833-537-4342 to check your application status.
Please note that the CDCP is for Canadians who have an adjusted family net income of less than $90,000 and do not have access to dental insurance.
Services covered: The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) will cover a wide range of oral health care services aimed at maintaining teeth and gum health and preventing and treating oral health issues and diseases. Some services will require preauthorization, a process where prior approval is needed based on the oral health provider's recommendation before treatment is provided to confirm coverage under the plan. Services requiring preauthorization will be available starting November 2024.
Coverage amount: The CDCP will reimburse a percentage of the cost based on established CDCP fees and your adjusted family net income. You may have to pay additional charges directly to the oral health provider if:
- Your adjusted family net income is between $70,000 and $89,999 (co-payment chart available online)
- The cost of your oral health care services exceeds established CDCP fees
- You and your oral health care provider agree to services not covered by the CDCP.
