MP Julian's 2024 end of year report

Dear Neighbours,

I hope you and your family are doing well.

It’s an honour to serve as your Member of Parliament in New Westminster – Burnaby, one of the most culturally diverse communities in Canada.

In 2024, Jagmeet Singh and the NDP made historic progress in healthcare, affordable housing, and anti-scab legislation for workers. We successfully pushed for the Red Dress Alert initiative to protect Indigenous women, girls, Two-Spirit, and gender-diverse people. After years of advocacy, universal dental care and pharmacare became a reality. By December 2024, over 1.25 million Canadians, mostly seniors, received dental care, and 3 million have dental cards, including 3,600 residents from New Westminster – Burnaby. In October, the Universal Pharmacare Act passed, offering diabetes medications to 6 million Canadians and contraceptives to 9 million.

Canada is facing a housing affordability crisis. The NDP pushed the Liberal government to commit $10.34 billion to create over 40,000 new units and repair 166,000 existing ones through the Affordable Housing Fund.

In New Westminster – Burnaby, my team and I have heard from thousands of constituents. Families are struggling with high rents, grocery prices, and medications. Food bank lines are growing, and small businesses are facing rising costs.

I will continue to fight for affordable housing, climate action, tax fairness, and more.

To share your concerns you can call me at 604-775-5707.

My team and I have helped over 22,000 families in this riding in recent years. Don’t hesitate to reach out.

Wishing you and your family peace, good health, and prosperity in 2025!

Peter Julian
Member of Parliament,
New Westminster – Burnaby
