M. Peter Julian (New Westminster—Burnaby, NPD) demande à présenter le projet de loi C-285, Loi visant l’élaboration de normes nationales sur le transport d’espèces et de biens de valeur par véhicule blindé.
— Monsieur le Président, je remercie mon collègue, le très travaillant député de Vancouver Kingsway. J'aimerais aussi saluer tous les gens syndiqués avec Unifor qui transportent nos biens de valeur, tous les jours, partout au pays. Comme on le sait, il n'y a pas un système de normes nationales, en ce qui concerne le transport de biens de valeur. Cela requiert une formation, de l'équipement, la taille de l'équipe et la santé et la sécurité au travail.
Puisque le fait d'avoir ces normes nationales partout au pays pour la santé et la sécurité du grand public relève du bon sens, j'espère avoir l'appui de tous les députés en cette Chambre pour ce projet de loi.
I wanted to shout out to the unionized workers of Unifor, who transport our values right across the country by armoured car every day. However, as members know, there is simply not the kind of national standards in place that we need for training, equipment, crew size, and health and safety regulations right across the country. That is a concern for the employees and the public as well. Therefore, I hope that members from both sides of this House will support this important legislation to put in place these national standards.

"It has come to our attention that a consultant for a federally funded anti-racism project has a disturbing track record of spewing hate speech online against Jewish and francophone communities. This is completely unacceptable. We call on the Minister of Heritage to take drastic action and terminate his contract.

“Today’s announcement by Hockey Canada is another attempt to delay the important and urgent work to deal with the toxic culture in this organization. While a former Supreme Court Justice is a credible appointment to conduct the review into Hockey Canada, this won’t be the first time the organization undergoes this process.
NDP critic for Canadian Heritage, Peter Julian, made the following statement:
“Canadians are horrified by the incidents of sexual assault and by what they’re hearing from Hockey Canada. They are left with many questions about how this toxic culture is allowed to persist in our sports organizations and what the government is actually doing to ensure this doesn’t happen again.
