Health Canada has imposed a ban on blood donations from men who have sex with anyone assigned male at birth, regardless of their health status or the actual level of risk.
The Liberals campaigned heavily in the last election on removing this discriminatory ban. Instead of delivering on their promise, they’ve kept a ban in place.
Blood policies should be based on what is scientifically-proven to be high risk, not on broad and outdated stereotypes, and should be consistently applied to all donors.
