All I want for Christmas is healthy teeth!

On Monday, New Democrats announced the implementation of the NDP’s national dental care program, which will save millions of families across Canada around $1,300 a year. In my riding of New Westminster – Burnaby, over 26,000 seniors, people living with a disability, and families struggling to pay the bills will no longer have to choose between a visit to the dentist or keep a roof over their head.

I have known the Edom family in New Westminster for many years. They have four children under the age of 18. Every year, the Edom family needs to spend thousands of dollars on dental care. With the new dental care program, they can spend the money set aside for dental care on rent, food, and education.

Last week, the Conservatives forced Parliament to sit overnight to vote against funding for health care services including this new NDP dental care program. No one should be living with dental pain because they can’t afford to see a dentist. For years, I and New Democrats have been fighting for dental care to make life easier for all Canadians. It’s shameful that at a time when people are trying their best to scrape by Pierre Poilievre’s Conservatives would rather play games than get real results to save families money and protect their health. The NDP is fighting for you, your health, and to make life more affordable.

Canadians need a government that works for you and their family not just the ultra-wealthy at those at the very top. Liberals and Conservatives are still ignoring the corporate greed of rich CEOs that is driving up costs for hardworking people. And New Democrats will keep fighting to change that until we form government.

If you have questions about the eligibility for the new dental care program or how to apply, please contact me via phone: (604)-775-5707, or email: [email protected]
